General thoughts on teaching:

The many wonderful music teachers that I have had greatly influenced me to take up teaching.  I remember at my early stages of music study and even today, how inspiring it feels to go to someone who is trained in music and have them provide you with the tools to achieve your artistic goals.  I too, just like my teachers, wish to share this knowledge with others who are interested.  When I think back on the teachers that I respect the most, a few qualities reveal themselves immediately about what made them special.  The willingness to cultivate the goals and needs of each musician, encourage individual taste, exposure to new things, patience, discipline, honesty, technical and creative development, open to questioning, respect of time, different perspectives on problems and solutions, and most importantly, making a self-sufficient musician.  These are a few of the many things that these teachers embodied in their teaching.  I will strive to embody these qualities as I teach you.

Whether you are taking lessons in hopes of one day becoming a professional musician, or you simply want to learn for your own enjoyment or fulfillment, I will do my best to help you unlock your potential.  I don’t believe that music is reserved for the elite, or specific groups.  With practice, patience, and an open mind, music can be enjoyed by all. So let's get started!
